What the application collects

Nothing. Weir has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry. It does not send us what you download, where you got it, or that you ran it at all. Your downloads, settings, history and bookmarks are files on your own Mac.

Weir talks to the internet in three circumstances only: fetching what you asked it to fetch, checking whether there is a newer version, and — if you have entered a licence key — checking that key with us.

What the website collects

These pages are static files. They set no cookies and carry no analytics or third-party scripts. The company hosting them keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, for a short period.

If you buy a licence

Payment is handled by our payment provider, who is the seller of record. Your card details never reach us. From them we receive your email address and an order number, and we keep those so that a licence can be issued and found again.

When Weir activates a licence, it sends the licence identifier and a one-way hash of a machine identifier — never the identifier itself. That is how a licence is limited to a number of computers, and it is not enough to identify you or the machine.

How long it is kept, and getting rid of it

Purchase records are kept as long as the licence is valid, plus whatever period tax law requires of the seller of record. Write to us and we will delete your address and tell you what was held. Deleting it ends the ability to recover a lost key.
